Facts, Figures, and Information on
Alzheimer’s Disease
Every 67 seconds someone in the United States develops Alzheimer’s disease. Alzheimer’s, a disease that robs people of cognitive abilities right down to swallowing in the final stages, is rarely listed as a cause of death on a death certificate so when it is stated the 5.4-5.8 million people in the US have this disease, this number is probably highly underestimated. It is also listed as the 6th leading cause of death (again probably more like 3rd because of lack of reporting) and is the only disease in the top ten with no cure, no prevention, and no reversal. It is a national and worldwide calamity.
